Konfiguracja SMS

SMS = high open rates (98% vs 20% email). GHL uses Twilio backend FOR SMS/calling. Ten tutorial shows setup.

Prerequisites

  1. GHL Sub-Account: SMS configurują PER sub-account.
  2. Twilio Account: Free signup ON twilio.com (GHL may provide built-in LUB external).
  3. Phone Number: Dedicated SMS-enabled number.

Options Sending

Option A: GHL-Managed Numbers

Pros:

  • Easy setup (built-in)
  • No external account needed
  • GHL handles compliance

Cons:

  • Slightly higher cost
  • Less control

Option B: Your Own Twilio Account

Pros:

  • Lower cost (direct Twilio pricing)
  • Full control
  • Scalable

Cons:

  • Requires setup
  • You manage compliance

Recommendation: Start με GHL-managed, switch να Twilio when scaling (1000+ SMS/month).

Setup με GHL-Managed Number

Step 1: Purchase Number

Settings → Phone Numbers → Buy Number

Choose:

  • Country (USA, Canada, Poland, etc.)
  • Area code (local presence increases trust)
  • Type: SMS-enabled

Cost: Typically $1-5/month PER number.

Step 2: Assign TO Sub-Account

Number auto-assigned after purchase.

Step 3: Test

Conversations → Text yourself → Verify sending/receiving works.

Setup με Your Twilio Account

Step 1: Create Twilio Account

twilio.com → Sign Up → Verify email + phone.

Step 2: Purchase Twilio Number

Twilio Console:

Phone Numbers → Buy a Number → Filter (SMS-capable) → Purchase

Step 3: Get Twilio Credentials

Twilio Console → Dashboard:

Account SID: ACxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Auth Token: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Copy BOTH.

Step 4: Connect TO GHL

GHL:

Settings → Integrations → Twilio → Add Account

Paste:

  • Account SID
  • Auth Token

Click Connect.

Step 5: Import Number

Settings → Phone Numbers → Import FROM Twilio

Select number → Import → Assign TO sub-account.

Step 6: Test

Conversations → Send test SMS → Confirm delivery.

Compliance (CRITICAL!)

USA: TCPA & 10DLC

TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act):

  • Requires EXPLICIT consent BEFORE texting.
  • "By submitting, you agree να receive SMS."

10DLC (10-Digit Long Code):

  • Carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) require registration.
  • Brand registration + campaign registration.
  • GHL can assist OR you register via Twilio.

Failure να comply = number blocked, fines up na $1500/text.

EU: GDPR

  • Consent required.
  • Clear opt-out mechanism ("Reply STOP να unsubscribe").
  • Data protection compliance.

Best Practices

Opt-In Clear: Form checkbox: "I agree να SMS updates."

Opt-Out Easy: Auto-handle "STOP" keyword → GHL suppresses.

Identify Yourself: "This is [Company] regarding..."

Timing: Business hours ONLY (9am-8pm recipient's timezone).

Cold SMS: DON'T text purchased lists (illegal).

Sending SMS

Manual Send

Conversations → Select contact → Type message → Send

Contacts → Click contact → SMS tab → Send

Bulk SMS Campaign

Marketing → SMS Campaign → Create

Steps:

  1. Select Audience (Smart List, tags, segments)
  2. Write message (160 chars = 1 SMS, longer = multiple charged)
  3. Personalize: ,
  4. Schedule (immediately OR later)
  5. Send

Cost: ~$0.0075-$0.01/SMS (varies by country).

Workflow SMS

Automation → Workflows → Add Action → Send SMS.

Use:

  • Appointment reminders
  • Follow-ups
  • Re-engagement

SMS Best Practices

Keep It Short

160 characters = 1 credit.

Bad: "Hello! We wanted να reach out today να inform you that we have a special promotion currently running where when you sign up you will receive..."

Good: "Hi {{first_name}}! 20% OFF this week only. Book today: [link]"

Personalization

"Hi {{first_name}}, your appointment με {{assigned_user}} is tomorrow AT 3pm. See you!"

Feels LESS robotic.

Shorten links:

GHL auto-shortens + tracks clicks.

Clear CTA

"Reply YES να confirm."

Timing

Troubleshooting

Problem: SMS NOT sending

  • Number verified?
  • Twilio account funded? (check balance)
  • Contact's phone valid? (international format +48...)
  • Contact opted out?

Problem: High costs

  • Long messages = multiple segments
  • Sending internationally (higher rates)
  • Review Twilio usage logs

Problem: Number blocked

  • TCPA violations (sending WITHOUT consent)
  • High spam complaint rate
  • Register FOR 10DLC (USA)

Problem: Messages marked as spam

  • Too aggressive sending
  • Language triggers ("FREE", "ACT NOW")
  • No prior engagement
