GHL offers built-in calling via Twilio Voice. Call leads directly FROM platform, track calls, record conversations.

Prerequisites

  1. Twilio Account: Same AS SMS setup.
  2. Voice-Enabled Number: Purchase FROM GHL OR Twilio.
  3. Sub-Account: Calling configured PER sub-account.

Purchasing Voice Number

Option A: GHL-Managed

Settings → Phone Numbers → Buy Number

Filter:

  • Capabilities: Voice + SMS
  • Country/Area code

Cost: ~$1-5/month + per-minute calling rates.

Option B: Twilio Direct

Twilio Console → Phone Numbers → Buy → Voice-enabled.

THEN import INTO GHL:

Settings → Phone Numbers → Import FROM Twilio

Outbound Calling

Manual Calling

Contacts → Select contact → Call icon

GHL dials FROM assigned number.

Browser-based: Uses WebRTC (no external phone needed).

Call Tracking

All calls logged:

  • Duration
  • Outcome (answered, voicemail, busy)
  • Recording (IF enabled)

Call Recording

Enable Recording

Settings → Phone → Call Recording → ON

Compliance: MUST inform callers ("This call may ბე recorded...").

Regulations:

  • USA: Varies BY state (one-party vs two-party consent)
  • EU: GDPR - explicit consent needed

Tip: Enable pre-call announcement:

"This call IS recorded FOR quality purposes. Continue?"

Accessing Recordings

Conversations → Click call → Play recording

OR:

Contacts → Contact profile → Activity → Calls → Recording

Inbound Calling

Call Forwarding

When someone calls YOUR GHL number:

Settings → Phone → Inbound Settings

Options:

1. Forward να User: Rings assigned user's phone.

2. Forward να Team: Round-robin OR simultaneous ringing (multiple users).

3. Voicemail: If NO answer → voicemail (transcription available!).

4. IVR (Interactive Voice Response): "Press 1 FOR sales, 2 FOR support..."

Call Tracking Numbers

Assign DIFFERENT numbers TO different marketing campaigns:

Google Ads → Number A
Facebook Ads → Number B
Direct Mail → Number C

Track WHICH source drives calls = ROI measurement.

Voicemail

Setup Greeting

Settings → Phone → Voicemail → Record Greeting

Options:

  • Upload audio file
  • Text-to-speech (GHL generates)
  • Record via browser

Example:

"Thank you FOR calling [Company]. Please leave message με your name, number, best time να reach you. We'll respond within 24 hours."

Voicemail Transcription

GHL auto-transcribes voicemail → text.

View:

Conversations → Voicemail tab → Read transcription

Benefit: Quickly scan without listening (saves time).

Voicemail Drops

Feature: Leave pre-recorded voicemail WITHOUT ringing phone.

Use: Bulk outreach WITHOUT disturbing (controversial - check regulations!).

Call Workflows

Trigger: Missed Call

Trigger: Inbound call missed
→ Wait 2 min
→ Send SMS: "Sorry we missed your call! What can we help με?"
→ IF reply → Create task FOR callback

Trigger: Call Completed

Trigger: Call ended (outbound)
→ Prompt user: Log call outcome (interested, not-interested, callback)
→ IF "callback" → Create task FOR specific date

Power Dialer (Batch Calling)

Feature: Call list OF contacts sequentially (auto-dial next).

Contacts → Select multiple → Actions → Start Power Dialer

Workflow:

  1. GHL dials Contact 1
  2. You talk OR leave voicemail
  3. Log outcome
  4. Auto-dials Contact 2 (no manual dialing!)
  5. Repeat
